The Watkins Glen Writers Group presents a featured reading by Patricia Schwartz, writer from Waterloo, NY as part of the Watkins Glen Reading Series on Monday, June 27th, 2016 at 7:00 PM at the Montour House Cafe & Tapas Bar at 401 W. Main St. Montour Falls, NY.
Patricia Roth Schwartz of Waterloo NY, poet, writer of fiction and creative non-fiction and short plays, is the author of six volumes of poems, several published by FootHills Publishing. Her latest release, out in May, from FootHills Publishing is Charleston Girls: a Memoir in Poems of a West Virginia Childhood. She is widely published in literary journals, having won awards from Clackamas, Heart Lodge, and Rochester ImageOut. Her poem and non-fiction story are included in the Rochester Poetry Walk and Story Walk, respectively.
For fourteen years until last June, Schwartz was a volunteer inside Auburn Correctional Facility, a men’s maximum security prison, facilitating a weekly poetry workshop with inmates. Four books of their work have been published, including the anthology, Doing Time to Cleanse Your Mind. She is currently writing a memoir of her experiences with the group. Schwartz offers readings and workshops throughout the Finger Lakes, often funded by Poets & Writers, Inc., including a monthly writers’ support group at Geneva Public Library. She has been chosen several times by Writers & Books in Rochester to be a featured reader in the monthly Genesee Reading Series.
She lives with her partner, Sandy Zohari, and their little dog, Rosie, on their 35-acre property, Sage-Thyme Haven, where she grows herbs and flowers, and also pursues avocations of photography, collage art, various crafts, and builds fairy houses/gardens. Having traveled worldwide from Cambodia/Vietnam to Tanzania, Australia/New Zealand, their latest trip, this April, was from Istanbul to Venice via Croatia and Greece.
