I’ve been reading three books all published by Hay House Inc.
I didn’t know much about Hay House, Inc. Sometimes these types of publications have great appeal when the promises are great and I’m feeling like I am not making sufficient progress. This might be thought of as avoidance technique number one—if I read about what to do I’m not actually writing but I am preparing myself —a cop-out, maybe.
For some reason, writers often get bogged down with what some call writer’s block. Others might call it resistance. The writers I have been reading this weekend all are all motivational writers. Louise Hay’s little book is filled with affirmations.
All of these authors agree with one principle. They believe if a person allows herself to get rid of negative affirmations, thoughts or beliefs, then good things will come almost automatically. They go even further and say that positive thoughts in the present tense allow for the manifestation of wishes in the future.
Yesterday after listening on CD to Louise Hay’s affirmations for a couple of days, I wrote five pages on my novel. I had been stuck, putting off, avoiding, waiting for perfect circumstances, the right mood, etc.…
Perhaps there is something to it. I think I’ll listen to the tape for the recommended thirty days and see what happens.
